Computer Science and Math STEM Specialist
Hello everyone, my name is Akeva, a first-gen student! I am a senior studying Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Computational Systems and Biology. What I do sounds complex, but to put it into simpler terms, I use computer science to better understand and solve biological systems and problems. As you can probably tell, I took a lot of Math classes and Computer Science classes and will therefore be helping y’all with those topics! I am also a McNair Scholar, which is a federally recognized program that allows me to grow as a researcher (I highly recommend if you are thinking about research as a career). After graduation, I hope to enter a graduate program that culminates my love of genetics, public policy, and social determinants of health, and grounds my work with patient experiences. Aside from school, I am a part of Voices of Freedom, a choir on campus, and Partners in Health as a co-advocacy lead where we seek to advocate and teach others about policies that support global health. I look forward to meeting you and/or helping y’all with understand content. I will mainly focus on doing problems and guiding you on how to think about problems (which I find is the hardest thing)
